SOILPROP: PRECISION SOIL INTELLIGENCE FOR SMARTER AGRICULTURE
WHAT SOILPROP IS

SOILPROP is an advanced soil properties mapping system that transforms field-level soil measurements into practical, location-specific agricultural decisions. Through high-resolution soil mapping and targeted nutrient recommendations, SOILPROP helps growers and agricultural agencies understand what the soil needs, where it is needed and how treatment can be applied more effectively.
The technology is commercialised by Solarcrest Sdn. Bhd. through a technology licensing collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia.
UPM officially records that it entered into a technology licensing agreement with Solarcrest on 28 January 2025 for the SOILPROP Soil Mapping System, intended to improve agricultural effectiveness and productivity, particularly in paddy cultivation. Read the official UPM announcement here.
The Problem Statement
Conventional agricultural programmes commonly treat large areas using generalised assumptions. However, soil conditions can vary significantly—even within the same field. Uniform treatment may result in under-application, over-application, avoidable input costs and inconsistent crop performance.
The SOILPROP Solution
- Field scanning and data collection — Soil conditions are surveyed systematically across the designated area.
- Soil properties mapping — Field data is converted into visual maps showing spatial variations in relevant soil characteristics.
- Agronomic interpretation — The results are analysed to identify nutrient requirements, soil constraints and priority treatment zones.
- Targeted intervention — Fertiliser and appropriate soil-enhancement solutions can be recommended according to actual field conditions.
